Stitch Fiddle is a browser-based design tool for creating stitch charts and visual patterns. Unlike a pattern marketplace, it is a creation tool that you use to design your own crochet symbol diagrams, cross-stitch charts, knitting patterns, and more.

Go to stitchfiddle.com. No download or installation is needed, as everything runs in your browser on any device. Create a free account to save your work.

Stitch Fiddle supports two modes for crochet:

  • Symbol-by-symbol: Place individual crochet stitch symbols on a grid to build a diagram one stitch at a time
  • Freeform: Draw and arrange stitches more freely for complex designs

The stitch library includes standard crochet symbols (chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, and many more). You can also create custom symbols.

Upload a photo and Stitch Fiddle will convert it into a chart pattern. This works for cross-stitch, knitting, and crochet. Adjust the number of colors and the size of the output.

The editor includes basic drawing tools for adding details, adjusting colors, and fine-tuning your design. Zoom in for precise stitch placement.

Share your finished charts by:

  • Downloading as PNG, PDF, or SVG (PDF and SVG require premium)
  • Generating a QR code for easy sharing
  • Saving to your account for later editing

Stitch Fiddle supports crochet, knitting, cross-stitch, diamond painting, tapestry, and more. The interface adapts to each craft type with appropriate symbols and tools.

Choose from DMC, Anchor, and Madeira thread colors when designing cross-stitch charts. Colors are matched to real thread numbers.

  • The free tier is generous. 15 patterns and 300×300 size is enough for most hobby projects.
  • Cloud save. Your work saves to your account and is accessible from any device.
  • No install needed. Works on any device with a browser, making it great for tablets and Chromebooks.
  • Use QR sharing. Share patterns instantly with friends or testers.
  • Multi-craft. If you also cross-stitch or knit, Stitch Fiddle covers those crafts too.
